Director of strategic growth, roca

FINANCIAL ADVISOR, RJFS

Kent Oliver serves as Director of Strategic Growth and a Financial Advisor within ROCA. A father to two beautiful daughters, Annie and Charlotte, Kent was born and raised in Mississippi and has been an advisor with our team dating back to 2018. A graduate of the University of Georgia, Kent earned his degree in Marketing in 2003 prior to embarking

upon a career in sales and marketing with Newell Rubbermaid in Atlanta. He spent approximately 7 years in the Atlanta market before making the move back home to Mississippi and joining yet another Fortune 500 company, Owens & Minor, where he continued to gain experience in sales management and lead efforts with clients and customers throughout the Gulf States.

While relatively new to financial advising, Kent’s greatest strengths are developing relationships and managing the long term planning component within ROCA’s client partnerships. His most interesting experience in finance dates back to his time spent as a runner on the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade following his freshman year of college. A far cry from the modern days of electronic trading, it was in those pits that he first learned of how intense the trading floor could be. It was also in that environment where he learned the value of remaining calm even in volatile times, a lesson that plays a critical role in the planning process with clients to this day.

In addition to career accomplishments, Kent is most proud of his family of Annie, Charlotte, and wife Candace. He is also the founder of Laughs 4 Life, a philanthropic endeavor he launched in 2016 aimed at bringing smiles and funding to those facing cancer and other serious illnesses through comedy. Throughout the past six years the organization is responsible for contributing nearly $700,000 to its partner beneficiaries while bringing the Pine Belt community together annually for a unique night of laughter. A cancer survivor himself, Kent recognizes the importance of laughter in our daily lives. It’s also this perspective that greatly helps him address health needs and risks with ROCA clients.

A unique professional and personal background brings with it a unique perspective. And we could all use a little perspective.
